Day 1, the ferry
The ship was great, no hassle getting on board, Irish Ferries crew all friendly, we had dinner in the Lady Gregory restaurant and it was very, very nice. Super sailing, sea was flat, more like a hotel than a ship. I love this form of travel.
Day 2, Cherbourg and Rennes
We landed about 13:30 local time and tipped around Cherbourg for an hour or so, then had lunch, finally got on the road about 16:00, so two days in and all we had really ridden was from Clane to Dublin.
We then rode down to Rennnes, and I discovered that the cruise control on the bike does not work above 150 Km p/h. Kept trying to get it to work, then copped what was wrong. That was a great spin, about 2.5 hours, non-stop.
I had booked a nice hotel named Balthazar, so checked in, went out for dinner and then back to hotel and did some work on laptop for an hour.
Day 3, the pool and off to Auray
We had to book the pool, so I booked it for 10:00, after breakfast, we went down for a quick dip before hitting the road, two hours later, we finally got out of the pool, no mileage done, but we were chilled out. We have no fixed itinerary, so I have to remind myself not to be rushing.
We used the Curvey Roads feature on the GPS and set no highways. We rode cross country to a town named Auray. I kept seeing Friesians in the fields and I wanted to get a picture in case anyone at home does not know what a Friesian looks like.
Finally, arrived in Auray, only did about 160 Kms but had a great day mostly in the middle of nowhere, through little French villages.
This part of France is amazing.
